So, I had a really relaxing summer. I spent a month remembering why I love Ohio, another month with some of the best co-workers anyone could ever ask for (not pictured sorry!), and a weekend in Palmyra, New York.
So I spent a month of my summer working for Kent State’s Foreign Language Academy in the Russian program. It was tough work, but also rewarding. I realized how tough teaching High School Students was and a couple of times I thought to myself- “Is this really something I want to do for the next 30+ years of my life?” Well, the answer was always yes. I participated in a night of Ramadan, made daily trips to Giant Eagle and became friends with a cashier named Chris G, ate cookies nearly every night, and had the privilege of catching high school students sneaking out of their rooms! As I said earlier, it was incredibly stressful, but I was blessed to be working with some of the most amazing co-workers ever who kept me sane. Five words to describe the experience: 大老鹰 (Dà lǎoyīng), Insomnia-Cookies, Gyros, train, Chris G.
I was also was able to pick up some slightly useful Chinese words. So, that was fun.
I didn’t decide to take any pictures while I was there, so you are just going to have to take my word that I had a good time.
